The official unveiling of Navarre’s Park and Ride, a lot designed to aid commuters and relieve some of the congestion on U.S. highway 98, took place last week.
The lot formally opened last September to a dismal community response, prompting Santa Rosa County officials to re-examine their approach to the project.
“I honestly think it’s a matter of communication,” said Dan Deanda, transportation planner and Ride On specialist with the West Florida Regional Planning Council.
“Once we get the word out, people will see that this is an excellent program,” he said. “The location is safe, there’s effective lighting, it’s accessible. We just need people to know it’s there.”
